I've had two of these...88 & 89. Both with the 318. The later with FI carb. Most reliable engine out there. Easiest vehicle of it's era to fix. Lots of room in the engine compartment, though I rarely have to spend any time in there. Just a water pump on the 89, which I currently own. This one still looks new inside and out. On the highway? Rock solid ride. The beach? Goes through anything, but I reccomend softening the tires. Fuel consumption is always a problem. 11 in the city and not much better on the highway unless you travel around 60. Not made for speed. No overdrive on the transmission. But that will make repairs to less costly. In fact. the parts for this are so cheap, it makes up for the mileage. I've owned a lot of trucks, and this one is by far the most reliable. Dubbed "The Family Rig". A real truck. Have the chance to own one? Do it. Soon. There're hard to find anymore. Currently considering trading it for something more long trip/higway friendly and it seems the dealers can't wait to get their hands on it. Was offered something worth twice the book value as an even trade.
